Stories of Heart & Craft

Foxford Woollen Mills

Foxford has been the heartbeat of Irish woollen mills for the past 127 years. It was created and developed by visionaries and entrepreneurs and this chapter of its life is being written by local man Joe Queenan who has continued its legacy of excellence.  I love to visit Joe and Kevin at the Mill and sit in their cafe where we brainstorm and exchange creative ideas for hours on end.  Hard to think we have been working together for nearly thirty years and it is a joy to have Foxford as our first story in this our new chapter into online trading.

Fermoyle Pottery

I first met Alexis and Stephen at an event in Dublin. We chatted over the course of the afternoon.  I knew it wouldn’t be long before I visited them at their home and studio in Co. Kerry.

A few weeks later my friend Catherine and I headed to the Iveragh Peninsula in south-west Kerry, where we received a proper Irish welcome form Alexis, Stephen and their beautifully young family.  Seeing their pottery for the first time I very quickly realised their work was as real and wonderful as they were.

It’s sophisticated, elegant, raw innovative and exciting. Hold a piece in your hand and I promise you won’t want to put it down.

John Hanley

Today, Brian Hanly, the fourth generation of Hanly's, holds the reins of the John Hanly Company. This heritage brand, a weaver of memories, has been weaving for over a century. John Hanly works using only natural fibres as raw materials and all are sourced from renowned suppliers who produce and source their wools and cashmere in a sustained and ethical manner.

Inis Meáin

Authentic heritage and sophisticated design, sums up the ethos of Inis Meáin. An island company that I first came across over twenty years ago that delves into the rich heritage of the island for inspiration, reinterpreting traditional stitches and styles in the finest yarns to create heirloom pieces for contemporary living.  You don’t own an Inis Meáin piece, you simply care take it for the next generation.

Hibernicis

Inspired by history, enriched by nature

Hibernicis a selection of skin and bath preparations, designed to support and replenish one’s body and mind's wellbeing.

The magnificent, wild and untouched land and coast of Connemara, located in the west cost of Ireland is where the inspiration of Hibernicis was born.

Seaweed, an integral part of Irelands coast, has been used as a source of food, medicine and fertiliser over the centuries. All Hibernicis products contain a blend of seaweed extracts.

Ireland's rich layer of languages and symbols, used throughout the centuries reflect the incredible history and culture of the land, to which Hibernicis pays homage.
